What is Cognitive Epidemiology?

Since the start of the new millennium, although there have been some earlier studies, low intelligence test scores have begun to appear in epidemiological reports, by ourselves and other research groups, as a risk factor for total mortality and possibly some disease-specific outcomes, including coronary heart disease. This new field has been termed cognitive epidemiology; it is exciting, new, and rapidly evolving.
